Remembrance Every Day was a community art and performance project by Ukrainian-born ceramic artist Tanya Besedina, made in collaboration with the Sunday Singers Choir. The project invited participants to create handmade porcelain poppies during a series of public workshops held across Toronto, bringing together ceramics, community, and choral music around the theme of remembrance.
The Workshops
Participants learned ceramic hand-building techniques while contributing to a large-scale commemorative installation inspired by Remembrance Day and the lasting impact of war on families and communities.

Each flower began with paper templates: three petal shapes traced into clay slabs and assembled by hand.

Each poppy was shaped, dried, fired, and painted by hand. The process was slow and deliberate.

After shaping, the poppies were laid out on foam boards to dry before going into the kiln.

Once fired, each poppy was painted by hand with red glaze.

The Installation
The finished poppies came together as a large-scale commemorative installation at the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery in Waterloo. The opening reception took place on Sunday, September 28, from 2PM to 4PM.

The installation was activated through a live choral performance by the Sunday Singers Choir. Members wore the handmade porcelain poppies while presenting a musical program on remembrance, peace, and healing.
